Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men!
How many of you know that earth is the only part in God's extensive creation where sin exists? And did you know that God was not taken by surprise by our rebellion? Before the foundation of the world a plan of redemption was made. (See Eph 1:4, 1 Pet 1:20, 2 Tim 1:9)
Some people will say they would prefer to be with the unfallen beings and not experience sin. That is good. But think about this. God, our Creator, came to this world and took on our nature. Later He returned to heaven fully man, yet fully God. Here's the stunner.
By doing this, humanity was elevated to be with God, just like Him. That could not have happened if we did not sin. When we go through this tough world and its woes, we are being purified and fashioned for greater things. If we share in Christ's suffering, we will share in His glory (1 Peter 4:12-19).
If we were taken out of this world we could never be like Christ. Here we learn to be kind, merciful, caring, unselfish, etc. In heaven there is no poor, hurting, suffering, lonely, miserable person. So there will be no opportunity to develop Christian graces.
All the afflictions we meet are God's workmen (2 Cor 4:17) and all things work for our good (Romans 8:28).
Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men!,
Our troubles and trials are helping us to go where no other created being can go, not even Cherubim and Seraphim. Amazing!
